Model Description
- Genetically similar to the BALB/c strain except that it carries the immunoglobulin heavy chain allele (Igh-1b) of the C57BL/ Ka strain
- This model is fully immunocompetent and is the preferred control strain for studies using FOX CHASE SCIDTM mice on the C.B-17 background
Origin: The C.B-17 congenic model was developed by the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Taconic received stock in 1989. The mice were derived by embryo transfer in 1989 and rederived in 1998. The Taconic foundation colony was at F81 in 2005.
