New State-of-the-Art Laboratories in Leverkusen, Germany
Rensselaer, NY — January 13, 2020 - Taconic Biosciences, a global leader in providing drug discovery animal model solutions, opened a new model generation facility in Leverkusen, Germany. This location houses model generation services, replacing the previous Taconic site in Cologne, Germany.
Custom genetically modified animal models are critical to the drug discovery process. Taconic leads the industry in providing model generation services to customers from all market segments. Recognized for expertise on all genetic modification methods, Taconic is fully-licensed to generate and distribute genetically engineered mouse and rat models. Taconic has unencumbered access to both proprietary technologies and technology licenses, including CRISPR/Cas9, granted by the multiple licensors. Custom models generated by Taconic belong to the customer. Taconic does not retain follow-on rights, meaning customers can freely publish results obtained with the model and use them for commercial drug discovery.
Due to its proximity to the previous facility, Taconic's entire German workforce moved to the new site in Leverkusen, ensuring project continuity and communication among the team members. Taconic retains all capabilities, quality standards, and processes within a modern facility built specifically to house model generation services. The new facility provides an optimal environment for both employees and animals.
